Our client, a company leading the way in electrification and battery technology in motorsport and low volume automotive, requires a contract functional safety engineer to join its team.
This contract is outside IR35.
The contract functional safety engineer will be an FMEA specialist who will assess the reliability and failure modes through FMEA activities for a battery module design project.
Responsibilities:
• Assisting in the objective evaluation of design (including functional requirements and design alternatives),
• Evaluating the initial design for manufacturing, assembly, service, and recycling/decommissioning requirements,
• Developing a ranked list of potential failure modes and their effects on the SBM, cascading to pack and vehicle level where appropriate),
• Providing an open issue format for recommending and tracking risk reduction actions,
You will work within the project team and be responsible for ensuring it meets both regulatory and customer requirements, whilst developing methodologies that add value across the full product technology lifecycle, from development phase through to high volume production.
Requirements:
• Relevant experience working in a Systems Engineering environment within the motorsport, automotive, EV or aerospace sectors
• Detailed working knowledge of ISO26262 and its implementation within a product supplier environment
• Strong system engineering and system analysis skills
• Ability to produce formal documentation to a highly professional standards
• Risk Management knowledge
• Relevant experience of integrated system testing
